Easy to Use is Not a Feature

Really sorry to say that, but it’s true: Easy to use isn’t a feature. It’s a selling point. It’s marketing copy. Just look around and see all the different products out there. I see this and hear this all the time. Talk to a rep, and they’ll say the same when faced with the choice of option A versus option B. Never will you find a company that sells their product as “Most Difficult to Use ERP System!”

Building a product that has the right features and not all the features is just part of finding the  product market fit. Sure, making it easy to use is just part of the task.  No product manager in their right mind will purposely build a product that’s going to be like setting up the Large Hadron Collider. Building the right features and learning from it is the path to a successful product.
